A family had reported criminals who entered their car, stole the keys and took information from their house. They then went back to their home and robbed the family.
On Tuesday morning, agents from the Police Investigation Division led an operation on the 600 Aurelio Garagarza Street of Puerto Madryn where they found a group dedicated to the committing of robberies using alarm jammers.
The operation began at 8:30 am and was approved by the criminal judge Patricia Asaro. Officers identified suspects, seized HT communications equipment – commonly used to disrupt alarm signals –, mobile phones, and a Renault Scenic car, where they allegedly were traveling in order to commit thefts.
Florencia BIANCHI, the prosecutor who led the diligence, had been prompted to initiate the investigation after a family complained last Saturday that their car, which they had parked at Paulina Escardo & Avellaneda, was robbed with inhibitors.
Police sources claim that the thieves would have taken the house keys from the inside of the home and written down the address on the papers.
The thieves then returned to the house, entered the premises using the key, and took various valuable items such as jewelry and computers. The alarm system of the house detected and alerted them, even though their owners had not returned.
DPI staff were notified of the incident and conducted an inspection of security cameras in the area. They managed to identify the Renault Scenic “because of their field experience,” according to Police.
Recent years have seen a number of cases where vehicles and belongings were stolen. This is a novel method of theft because doors, locks, or glass aren’t broken.
The Police say that criminals are using a system whereby they interfere with signals when pressing central locking on the remote. This results in the vehicle being left unlocked.
The first place this modality appeared in Mexico was the northern part of the country. Numerous cases have been reported in Cordoba, but since January 2018, it has also become commonplace in Puerto Madryn and Valley.
