In the early morning hours of Sunday, more than 15 thieves dressed as police officers in plainclothes and uniform stole Rs20,000,000 and an enormous amount of gold from a home in Orangi Town.
Robbers in police uniforms entered the house and took family members as hostages. Shakir said that the robbers stole Rs20million, 70-80 tolas gold, and other valuables. They took two hours to complete the robbery.
They entered at 2am, and then left at 4am. The culprits also brought Shakir, his brother Amir and a vehicle with them. They blindfolded the brothers and dumped them on the Baloch Colony Bridge.
Shakir said that motorcycles, Vigos, Mehrans and police vehicles were all used to commit the crime. Shakir said that more than 15 criminals were involved in the crime. The police received the information about the robbery through helpline 15, but they did not respond.
He claimed that his family ran a wholesale sanitary business, and the money needed to pay shopkeepers was in their house. Shakir told the police that the six married brothers and their kids were present when the thieves entered the home.
The culprits, he said, not only rammed into the house of the victims but surrounded them on the street. The perpetrators, he said, and their cars could be seen on CCTV. They took my brother Amir and me in the car as they left. “A cover was placed over our eyes and we were allowed to leave near Baloch Colony Bridge,” said the man as he demanded the arrest of the criminals.
He said, “The cash, jewelry, and other valuables that were stolen should be returned.” Police said that they are investigating the incident. Riffat Mukhtar, the Sindh Inspector-General of Police took note of the incident as well and requested a report by the West DIG.
