On Saturday, people across the country paid their respects to those who lost their lives in the collapse of a school gymnasium’s roof that occurred in the northeast China.
According to Chinese belief, the souls who have died will return for a final time in the world on the seventh after-death day.
A roof collapsed in Qiqihar (Heilongjiang Province) last Sunday and killed 10 girls from a middle-school volleyball team.
A message was posted online by the mother of a young girl buried in the sea on Sunday morning.
A mother in Hunan Province wrote on an online video that she found her child’s schoolbag in ruins. However, your phone wasn’t there. Only your medals and your pocket money were. I felt heartbroken when I saw them.
“When I awaken the following morning, I’ll take your lipstick, eyeshadow, powder blush and mascara to the morgue and bury you at sea.”
Social media users in China, a country with a highly censored Internet, expressed their sympathy for the victims’ families.
To pay tribute to those who died, flowers, bubble teas, snack foods, and yogurts were placed outside the gate of the school.
It was thought that a delivery driver would deliver the items to all parts of the country.
On the Weibo social network, a user in Shanxi Province, located about 1,400km from Qiqihar (about 870 miles), wrote: “My friend read some online posts saying that people had ordered bubble tea and juice for delivery to their school. He then placed an order, and the driver took a picture for him to show that others did the same.”
These young people are so unfortunate to be experiencing tragedies of this magnitude at such an early age.
Others expressed their anger over the accident while commenting on No 34 Middle School’s eulogy.
The message read: “For seven day, the pain of the universe has been shattered into pieces. It was transformed into stars and the bright, shining moon. And it transformed to your faces and the hearts and minds of your teachers and families.”
Weibo users wrote, “We want to find out who broke the roof and hearts of people.”
One person wrote, “This is an unnatural disaster.” Another added: “Can you just leave Heaven and Earth alone ?”?”?”
There are many questions about the cause and how of this accident.
The preliminary investigation revealed that construction materials were illegally stored in the attic, which caused it to collapse.
The Paper, a Shanghai-based online news site, quoted Fu Jianyi saying that it was “a low-level mistake of common sense” which local authorities and regulators could have prevented.
Since the tragic events, schools and universities in the entire country are being ordered to increase security.
