After the hailstorm of April 4, the administrator Amie Firavich stated that AmeriTrust Insurance would not pay to replace the roof at the Nodaway County Senior Center.

The roof was inspected by a roofer to confirm the hail damage. A hail adjuster was sent, who confirmed the damage. Insurance company did not like the conclusion and sent an engineer out to check the roof. The roof was damaged, but not by the insurance company.

Members of the board named the roofs that had been replaced around the Senior Center in four-block area. Firavich, Vice-President Joe Baumli and the Senior Center Board will contact the insurer.

Firavich has been replaced by Mia Nelson, the new administrator. Firavich will receive a day of recognition on Wednesday, December 20, to honor and recognize her contribution to the Senior Center.

Committee members are working on a celebration that will acknowledge the many improvements to the Senior Center. The committee is considering using this event to raise money.

Kenzie Nelson will be hired as janitor and Priscilla Nelson, who is taking over Nelson’s job.

A storage building was discussed. The prices will be bought.

Nothing was found to be out of order in the fiscal year 2020-21 internal audit. Internal audit for FY 2021-22 is currently underway.

Baumli, Firavich and their team are busy cleaning up the area of storage above the office. All documents prior to 2017 are being destroyed, except payrolls and tax returns.

Thanksgiving Day Community Meal will take place from 11am to 1pm on Thursday 23rd November. The public is welcome to attend and a donation of their choice is accepted.

Nodaway Valley Bank was approached to fund an outdoor digital sign at the Senior Center.

Both the Senior Citizens Senate Fund and the Senior Center Fund with Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri showed a decrease in their accounts during the month of Septembre. The senate account has been invested for 10 months in Nodaway Valley Bank CDs with a 5.5 percent rate, and the operating fund is now five months old. The October Community Foundation Report will reflect these changes for the meeting in December.

Baumli Firavich disputed CSI’s bid of $419, which appeared on the Senior Center’s card. CSI installed the walk-in cooler. Card refunded charge.

The average number of meals served in October was 44 per day, whether they were congregate- or dined-in. This occurred over the 21 days that the Senior Center was open. The average number of meals delivered to the home was 90 each day.
