Jeffrey’s Restaurant owner said that he was “devastated”, after an arson fire destroyed a part of the restaurant in Marquette last week.
The restaurant caught fire. It was so hot that I had no socks. I put on my sandals, and came here. The air was foul. Jeff Erickson said that smoke was coming from the restaurant.
TV6 was unable to enter the room on Monday but the damaged rear door provided a hint as to what is inside.
Erickson stated that the damage was concentrated in this area. It’s all melted. The front of the home has suffered more damage from smoke. The fire wasn’t in front of the house, but at the rear.
Erickson stated that the cause of Thursday’s evening fire has yet to be determined. This is an obstacle that the owner will not let stop him.
Erickson continues, “I have been through it all, but I think this is the hardest one.” COVID wasn’t easy, but it will be over soon. They are calling and supporting me. My town is great. This is my dream. I’m from Gwinn. “I will not stop until the project is up and running.”
Erickson stated that it would be a few months before he could consider reopening. There are 25 employees at the restaurant. The GoFundMe page has been set up for those part-time employees who do not qualify for unemployment benefits.
